<ΜΙΛΤΙΑΔΗΣ.> / Μετὰ τὴν ἐκ Μαραθῶνος τῶν βαρβάρων φυγὴν στόλον ᾔτησεν Ἀθηναίους ὁ Μιλτιάδης ὑποσχόμενος, εἰ λάβοι, μέγαν τῇ πόλει πλοῦτον πορίζειν ἔκ τινος χώρας. οὕτως εἰπὼν καὶ τὸ τῆς χώρας ὄνομα κρύψας λαβὼν ὅσας ᾔτησε ναῦς ἐπὶ Πάρον ἦλθε τὴν νῆσον τὰ βαρβάρων φρονήσασαν. καταστήσας ἐν πολιορκίᾳ Παρίους, εἶτα τὴν εἴσοδον βιάσασθαι βουληθεὶς πηροῦται τὸ σκέλος. καὶ κρίνει Ξάνθιππος αὐτὸν τῆς εἰς τὸν δῆμον ἀπάτης ὡς προδεδωκότα Παρίοις τὴν ἀναχώρησιν. <μελετῶμεν τὸν φεύγοντα.> (Ancient Greek)
