    <ΠΑΙΔΟΚΤΟΝΟΣ.> / Τύραννος ὡραίαν ἐξ ἀστυγείτονος πόλεως ᾔτησε κόρην πρὸς γάμον θυγάτριον οὖσαν ἀνδρὸς κορυφαίου τῶν οἰκητόρων αὐτήν τε καὶ παῖδας ἔχοντος ἄλλους. ταύτην ᾔτησε πόλεμον ἀπειλῶν, εἰ μὴ λάβοι. εἵλοντο μᾶλλον ἐπιόντα πόλεμον ἐνεγκεῖν ἢ δόξαι δειλὸν φρονεῖν τυράννου διακονοῦντες προστάγματι. πολιορκουμένων αὐτῶν καὶ προιόντος τοῦ φόβου τὴν κόρην ἐπὶ τὸ τεῖχος ἀνήγαγεν ὁ πατὴρ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς τε τῶν πολεμίων ἀπέκτεινεν. ὁ μὲν οὖν τύραννος ὡς εἶδεν, ἀνέζευξεν ἄπρακτος οὔτε τῆς ἐρωμένης τυχὼν οὔτε πορθήσας τὴν πόλιν, νέος δέ τις τῆς παρθένου πολίτης ἐκτόπως ταύτης ἐρῶν οὐ φέρων τὸ πάθος ἑαυτὸν διεχρήσατο. καὶ κρίνει τὸν πατέρα τῆς κόρης ὁ τοῦ νεανίσκου πατὴρ ὡς αὐτόχειρα μὲν τοῦ φόνου τῆς θυγατρός, αἴτιον δὲ τῆς ἐκείνου σφαγῆς. μελετῶμεν τὸν τῆς κόρης πατέρα.
